No More Teacher Terrorists

Good news.  Teachers in our building no longer have to be scanned for weapons twice a day.  Why the change of tune?

It could have been intervention from the Union.  I did write a letter to the Queens UFT Representative.  The Reassigned Teachers Representative did visit the building.

It could have been the fact that two of us insisted on signing in and receiving a visitor's pass every time we had to walk through the weapons scanner and then called an attorney, and asked what we could do about our situation and the reply was that we could file an injunction against further weapons scanning.

Or the administrators of our building might have decided that it wasn't fair to force some workers to be scanned for weapons and allow other workers to walk on through.

Whatever the reason, I now show my drivers license and bypass the scanner.  Hopefully that will continue indefinitely.

It nauseates me that the DOE officials can get away with this unfair, possibly illegal nonsense. I wonder how many other large school organizations in the US deal with this form of dehumanizing process?

Congrats! A small victory, but a victory nevertheless.

My brother-in-law is a lawyer who defends teachers. Write to me if you need his number. He is very good and has beat the DOE many times. He only takes cases he feels he can win.

S.T., I often wonder the same thing. I think the rest of the country is waiting to see if Bloomberg gets away with it.

P.O.'d thanks for your support over the long haul.

It takes 1 person to fight back LEGALLY against the DOE. If 4 or 5 people can get involved, the case gets stronger. 10 people, even better. 20 or more, much stronger.

Most teachers are afraid of making waves. They do the best they can under whatever circumstances they find themselves in. They look to their union to fight for them. The United Federation of Teachers is 87,000 strong according to Wikipedia. That doesn't include another 50,000 retirees. All of these teachers pay union dues to the tune of about 100 dollars a month. Retirees might pay less--I'll soon find out. We have an extremely rich and powerful union. Why they are letting Bloomberg treat us this way is one question that I hope will be answered before I die. I'm just really curious.

Reassigned Teachers are fighting Bloomberg one by one and case by case, each in his or her own way. The one time a group tried to get together to sue the DOE, their lawyer quit on them after taking all their money.

Unfortunately, most teachers are afraid of making waves and sticking up for other teachers.
I understand, but this did not stop me from taking the city of NY to court. The administrators in my former district made inappropriate decisions my situation and did not care that they made the wrong decision; even with the proof of evidence that was given to them to present my case. I wrote letters to the appropriate officials, to no avail.
After consulting with the appropriate legal people, I took action. I have no regrets. All I need and care about is a clean and expunged record.

Fighting dirty is not my style. However, I am in favor of defending one's self against improper injustices, the APPROPRIATE and LEGAL way.

Here here for appropriate and legal resistance to inappropriate and illegal injustice.

My admirers are Mahatma and Martin Luther King Jr. They used words, not hands and they fought injustices civilly and appropriately.
This is all 1 needs to in order to fight corruption and injustices.
